The first half of 2020 is coming to an end, and although there are a few days left to go as of this writing, there is no doubt that Bitcoin (BTC) will be the most profitable asset class of the first half of 2020. This continues Bitcoin’s (BTC) winning streak, since Bitcoin (BTC) is the most profitable asset class of the 2010s as well.
Specifically, Bitcoin (BTC) started the year at $7,100, and now Bitcoin (BTC) is trading near $9,300, which is an increase of 31%.
The next most profitable asset is gold, and it started the year at $1,515 per ounce, and has now risen to $1,760 an ounce. This is an impressive increase, but ultimately is only 16%, meaning Bitcoin (BTC) has been roughly 100% more profitable than gold during the first half of 2020.
As for the stock market, the S&P 500 is down 5% during the first half of the year and the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) is down just over 10%.
However, not all stock indices are in the red during the first half of 2020, since the Nasdaq is up over 10%.
Finally, the worst performing asset of the year is crude oil, which has dropped from $61 per barrel to $38 per barrel, a 38% loss.
Bitcoin (BTC) continues to hold its title as the most profitable asset class in the world as the first half of 2020 closes out, and no other asset class even came close.
